Support from other Small Business Owners

Every couple of months I meet up with a couple of friends that I met at university and with whom I’ve kept in touch with for nearly 20 years.

When I first told these friends that I was setting up my own business they were really supportive and thought it was a great idea.

It seemed that I had sown a seed, for a few months later these friends told me that they were also going to set up a small business.  One of my friends had been in her job for 10 years and felt she needed a new challenge.  She had come up with the idea of selling authentic indian food at fairs and fetes.  My other friend had decided to go into partnership with a fellow dancer and was going to set up a dance school.

It has been very exciting all of us starting out within a few months of each other.  Whenever we meet up we share our successes and offer support to each other. It has made such a difference being able to speak to friends going through a similar thing – and it is a big thing setting up your own business.  So many people think about setting up a business but only a very small proportion actually do it.
